Congratulations to members Jules and Chris Starkey on the birth of their baby Sloane Olivia! Born on February 1st – in the midst of a snowstorm! Atta girl, Sloane! Already stormin’ into the world! 😉
This month’s gym happenings:Â
Software Switcheroo.
As you guys know, we’re in the transition of switching over from Zen Planner to PushPress. You guys have been great at assisting me with all of my requests so far, so I really appreciate it. Right now, I’m working on making sure every member’s current membership transfers over into the new software. I’m assigning memberships to each individual, grandfathering any previous discounts/rates, and sending notifications to update bank account info via text and/or email as I update each person’s account.
What You Need To Do (Please!)
- Please feel free (as I get you connected with a membership) to download and go into the PushPress for Members app and play around.
- Get used to new system: starting March 1st, you MUST reserve your class spot ahead of time. If you can reserve a spot at least 30-60 minutes in advance, that would be FANTASTIC. This helps the coaches, and it also helps keep the gym covid-safe.
- When you come in, you’ll have to check yourself into class via the PushPress Check In app. This app is on the front desk and Bootcamp Entrance iPad kiosk.
I’m not the most tech-savvy person in the world so I know you’ll have to bear with me while we work out all the kinks. I know there’s still a lot left to do after updating memberships, such as connect to SugarWod, update our “Store” app, and even upload bootcamp workouts into PP. My goal is to shut down zen planner by Feb 28, and completely switch to using PushPress on March 1. Currently, all memberships are set to renew on March 1. As I get you into the system, please make sure your bank account is set up by the first!
Cleaning and Covid Updates
I think we’ve finally got the class cleaning system perfected. Every person gets a towel and spray bottle when you get to class. Clean your equipment by spraying your rag, then wiping down anything you’ve used/touched in the gym. Wipe down your spray bottle and toss your rag in the hamper. (Please don’t spray the Concept 2 rower screens.)
Coaches: The last bootcamp class of the day will mop the bootcamp room. The last crossfit class of the day will mop the crossfit area. The last bootcamp coach of the day needs to set up the mop bucket and put a new mop head on the mop. After mopping the bootcamp room, you’ll need to take the mop up to CrossFit. The last CF coach of the day needs to mop and dump the bucket, and take the mop head off and put it in the bucket so I can wash it.
I set two new brooms/dustpans in each of the main group fitness rooms for anyone to use for spot cleaning. And we got a new vacuum that works super well on our floors. Feel free to use them any time you want. 😉
Everyone: I’m working on getting a washer/dryer for the gym for the rags and mop heads — so invite your friends and family to check us out so we can get closer to buying all these amazing things!
Ok, NOW FOR THE FUN!!!!Â
YOGA!Â
We are still yoga-ing away in the bootcamp room on Sundays at 10am and Tuesdays at 7pm. If it snows and yoga is cancelled, we’ll update you on social media.
To sign up for yoga now: go into the Push Press app and buy a yoga one-time pass. Reserve your yoga spot on the calendar. That’s it! Non members can also sign up at the door using the PushPress Store app on the iPad. That’s literally it!
Members = $5
Non-Members = $12
(Combo Members are free)
If you’re interested in more yoga times, reach out to Steph. Nicole would love to get an early morning class going!
GALENTINES!Â
Friday, February 12 at 7pm is LADIES’ NIGHT! Woop Woop!! All ladies are invited out – Bootcamp and CrossFit – and we’re going to have a night of food, fun, and fitness! That’s right, wear fitness attire – party games may or may not include things like Turkish Get Ups. (Do we know how to throw a party or what?!)
Because I’m not a good party planner, Caroline Neff is completely in charge of this event. Get with her if you have any questions! @carolinerooo
(PS- bring your mask too, because, you know – covid guidelines do apply!)
THE OPEN IS BACK!!!!!!!
I’m also not planning the open. LOL. But Caroline and my hubs, Erik Walker have already jumped into the research of how to throw the BEST open in the history of all opens. They’re even going to be on a zoom mtg with Chris Cooper (he helps CrossFit biz’s reach their potential) on how to run the Open AND Intramurals. (What’s this? You’ll find out super soon – stay tuned!)
Caroline will be posting a lot more on this SOON, but in the meantime, if you haven’t yet signed up for the open, DO IT! Just go to games.crossfit.com and sign up! That easy! For real, there are four categories for participating, and no skill level will be left out. I REALLY want SO DARNED MANY of you to sign up. Bootcampers, I’m talking to you too!!!!!!
New Peeps on Staff
Caroline Neff is the official CSM (client success manager) of CrossFit Harrisonburg and Caitlin Tice is the official CSM of SFBC. Their job is to celebrate YOU, and help me ensure you’re meeting your goals and you’re getting all you can get from both CF and Bootcamp. We all want you to succeed, so that’s what we are working on! Fun, fitness, and success! Reach out to them (or me!) any time you need!
Another new staffer, Amy Cortes, is working with me as well. Amy is a JMU Kinesiology major and she’s helping learn and manage PushPress, and really just being the BEST helping hand ever. If you see her, say HI and convince her to try a workout with you. 😉
And we’ve got a new coach on board too! Blake Barnhill will be coaching at CFH starting mid-February! You’ll likely see him between noon classes and evenings. Blake has coached at several CF gyms, and I’m excited for him to join us and share his CF experiences, tips, tricks, and techniques.
Don’t Forget:
If you have a specific challenge you’re struggling with right now, we have a system in place to help you. You can book 30 or 60 minute skill sessions with any of our coaches if you want to work on things like double unders, toes to bar, snatching, learning how to rope climb, butterfly pull-up, anything! All you have to do is go into PushPress and book a personal training session. I’ll see your email come through and then I’ll hook you up with the coach you want to / or is available to work with you.
Good gosh, that was a lot and I think I’m done for now, but if you made it this far, THANKS for reading. You probably really love CrossFit and Bootcamp, and I’m so happy you’re here. Reach out any time and LMK what I can do for you.
So informative and exciting! Thanks for the updates and for all that you do, Steph!
