The Winners of the 2026 CrossFit Open — plus Superlatives!

Blog, Uncategorized · March 23, 2026

CrossFit Harrisonburg: We All Won the Open

There’s something special about the CrossFit Open at CrossFit Harrisonburg.

Yes, we keep score.
Yes, we crown a winning team.
Yes, we hand out superlatives.

But if you were in the gym these past few weeks… you already know the truth:

The gym won.

We saw people do things they didn’t think were possible.
We saw first-timers jump in with both feet.
We saw veterans raise their standards.
We saw a community show up—for workouts, for each other, and for something bigger than themselves.

Team Champions: BLACK (by ONE point)

It doesn’t get closer than this.

Black jumped out early, but Yellow came storming back and made it a fight all the way to the end. When it was all said and done…

Black wins by ONE point.

Honestly it was an amazing effort by both teams!

2026 Open Superlatives

These aren’t just awards—they’re a reflection of what matters here.

Rookie of the Year – Patrick Ryan
Patrick came in new and immediately set the tone. He pushed himself hard all Open long—and even brought his cousins in to experience it too. That’s how you make an impact fast. Way to go Patrick!

Top Contender – Allison Arp
Allison was our top overall performer this year. I don’t think anyone is surprised by this but if you all could see how far she has come. Most of us just know Allison the amazing athlete but the work she’s been putting in is top level — this was earned.

Comeback Player of the Year – Erica Clymer
One year removed from major knee surgery… and she Rx’d the entire Open. Not only that—she would have advanced to Quarterfinals if she had officially signed up. That’s resilience. That’s AMAZING! So proud of you Erica, such an inspiration!

Dynamic Duo – Abe & Leo Goldberg
Our favorite father-son duo. They kept everyone laughing and delivered when it was time to perform. I hear being on the team yellow team chat had a great time with these two.

Heart of the Open – Jenna Dunn
Jenna completed every workout Rx and fought through every second. This is what effort looks like. She was a must watch athlete during Friday Night Lights.

Courage Award – Denise Burke
Denise was hesitant to even sign up—but she did it anyway. That decision alone inspired a lot of people. Denise is proof that CrossFit is for everyone and she showed up what courage is all about!

Grit of the Open – Ashley Welch
Ashley’s engine and toughness were on full display. She pushed hard enough to earn a spot in Quarterfinals. That doesn’t happen by accident. Proud of you Ashley!

Community Champion – Tyler Terrebonne
Tyler was everywhere—organizing, encouraging, holding things together. The Open doesn’t run without her. THANK YOU Tyler!

Spirit of the Open – Jen Dayton
Jen was the lifeline of the Open. From setting standards, to ensuring fairness, to protecting the integrity and spirit of the entire event—she made this what it was. This was in many ways our most successful open and we have Jen to thank for this — you are the best!

Now Comes the Most Important Part…

The Open is over.

And this is where most people drift.

They take their foot off the gas.
They stop chasing progress.
They fall back into “just showing up.”

That’s not who we are.

Refocus. Level Up. Maximize Your Potential.

The Open gave you something valuable:

  • A clear look at your strengths

  • A clear look at your weaknesses

  • Proof of what you’re capable of when you push

Now we use it.

1. Prioritize Attendance

The difference between teams this year?
Consistency.

3–5 days per week isn’t optional if you want results—it’s the baseline.

2. Meet the Stimulus

Doing the workout isn’t the goal.

Doing it the way it’s intended is.

That might mean:

  • Scaling smarter

  • Moving with purpose

  • Pushing when it’s time to push

This is where results actually happen.

3. Dial in Your Nutrition

You can’t outwork poor nutrition.

If you want:

  • More energy

  • Better recovery

  • Visible progress

Then this is the lever you need to pull next.

4. Set (or Reset) Your Goals

What are you chasing now?

  • Your first pull-up?

  • Better conditioning?

  • Fat loss?

  • Strength numbers?

If you don’t define it—you won’t hit it.

Let’s Build on This

The Open showed what’s possible when you’re locked in.

Now the mission is simple:

Carry that same energy into the next 90 days.

Show up.
Stay consistent.
Train with intent.
Fuel your body.
Chase something specific.

Because the truth is…

Your best results are still ahead of you.
